Martha Bone has been writing and producing for television and film for over 15 years. She spent her first ten years in the creative end of the advertising business working for well-known companies such as Saatchi & Saatchi in New York, McCann-Erickson in Germany and various agencies in the Southeast U.S. More recently she has written and produced over 30 science and history documentaries for Public Television. Ms. Bone's work has teamed her up with top scientists, authors and Nobel Laureates from around the globe. She has been recognized with numerous awards, including Emmys, Tellys and Aurora Awards, and has been honored by the Society of Professional Journalists and the National Educational Television Association. Her credits include the science-and-technology documentary series, Science Adventures, and the Emmy award-winning Beyond Science series, which covered such progressive and controversial topics as food irradiation, medical marijuana and rising murder/suicide rates amongst the elderly. Two of Ms. Bone's most recent documentaries are currently in rotation on Public Television stations around the country. Superbugs: The Killer Viruses, winner of both a 2001 Telly Award and Aurora Award, is an hour-long documentary describing the dangers of emerging pathogens, global epidemics and bio-terrorism. The program was produced and released prior to the attacks on September 11th and continues to receive heavy airplay on PBS affiliates around the nation. Search for the U.S.S. Maine, a one-hour documentary shot on location in Cuba, featured exclusive underwater footage as it followed scientists searching for the remains of the famous battleship. Search for the U.S.S. Maine has been honored with Emmy, Telly and Aurora Awards and was nationally released by PBS in 2002. Ms. Bone is a native of Florida, a Poynter Scholar and graduated magna cum laude from the University of South Florida with a degree in Mass Communications. She speaks German, plays tennis, scuba dives and is currently working on her pilot's license. |
